Sharing Ideas & Photos

After initial contact, the first thing to do is send me your photos and ideas.

Pet portraits, wildlife and painting commissions can be painted from your own photographs, as long as they are good quality images.

If you're unsure if your photographs are good enough, just email them through to me and I can take a look. If you need help taking a nice photograph of your subject I can give you some great tips to help you.

For Pet Portraits I ask that you upload several detailed photographs which include your pet's eyes as this will help me to interpret the personality of your pet.

The Painting and Making Process

As I paint your commission I'll email you through photographs of my progress at various stages, this way you can see how your painting is coming along and get the chance to suggest any alterations or tweaks that you may like to see. It's always easier to make any changes at these earlier stages if there's something you'd like adjusted, however it is still possible to tweak elements and make small changes nearer the final stages of the painting.

Time Frame

It’s best to book a commission as early as possible. From time of deposit paid I estimate 4 - 6 weeks, though this may vary.
The start date is dependent on my work load at the time, but I'll let you know this when you first enquire.

One of my Happy Customers

‘I found Julia’s website after searching for someone to paint me a bespoke house sign featuring hoopoes and I knew I needed to look no further.'

'Her bird portraits are detailed, accurate and painted with evident knowledge of and affection for her subject. She was quick to respond to my enquiry, saw at once what I hoped to achieve, produced suggestions of her own to maximise the artistic impact of my outline sketch and then produced our joint design quite quickly and beautifully executed.I wish I owned another house that I could ask her to make a sign for.’
